Children Eye Screening

$400 before GST

Who is this for?

Children from preschool to teenage years – especially those with suspected myopia progression, family history of high myopia, squint (strabismus), amblyopia (lazy eye), allergic eye disease, eye lid issues, or learning difficulties that may be vision‑related.

What does it help look out for?

Refractive errors after relaxing the eye’s natural focus (cycloplegic refraction), amblyopic risk factors, strabismus, accommodation disorders, allergic eye diseases, and rate of myopia progression (via axial length).

Visual acuity and colour vision

Measures how clearly your child sees at distance and near using eye charts specially tailored for children. Detects blurring from refractive errors or other media opacities. Includes colour vision testing screens for inherited or acquired colour deficiencies such as optic nerve disease.

Cyclorefraction

Refraction performed after administration of cycloplegic eye drops which temporarily relax the focusing muscles. This reveals the true refractive error without the child’s active accommodation – essential for complete assessment of myopic and hyperopic refractive errors.

Binocular vision assessment (SMART system)

Evaluates 3D stereopsis (depth perception), ocular movements, dominance, and alignment. Our FDA‑approved state of the art SMART system is the gold standard system used for objective, high‑precision measurements in the evaluation of strabismus (squint) and other binocular vision deficits. The SMART system is designed to cater to children of all age groups, using the in-built child-friendly cartoons to capture their attention and maintain consistent fixation.

Tonometry

Our latest iCare portable system reduces anxiety and provides gentle measurement of intraocular pressure to help rule out conditions such as childhood glaucoma.

Anterior segment examination

Our clinic is fully equipped with both mainframe slit lamp for older children as well as portable handheld slit lamp which is ideal for the younger age group. Using the slit lamp, we examine the cornea, iris, lens, and anterior chamber. Helps detect allergic eye diseases, lid abnormalities, congenital cataracts, corneal abnormalities, or other structural issues.

Dilated retinal examination

After dilating your child’s pupils, the ophthalmologist views the retina, optic nerve, and macula. This is crucial for detecting retinal or optic nerve conditions that may not cause obvious symptoms in children.

Axial length biometry

Using the latest Zeiss IOLMaster system, we measure the physical length of your child’s eye. This is the gold standard for tracking myopia progression over time – more accurate than relying on spectacle prescription changes. Helps guide and titrate myopia control treatments.
