Frequently Asked Questions

When should children have their eyes checked?
Many childhood eye conditions develop gradually and may not be obvious early on. Regular eye examinations help detect issues such as myopia, lazy eye, and squints early, when treatment is often most effective.
What are signs my child may have vision problems?
Common signs include squinting, sitting close to screens, rubbing the eyes frequently, headaches, poor concentration, or difficulty seeing distant objects clearly.
Can myopia worsen over time?
Yes. Childhood myopia often progresses as children grow. Early intervention and myopia management strategies may help slow progression and reduce long-term risks associated with high myopia.
Is squint treatment only cosmetic?
No. Squints can affect depth perception, binocular vision, and visual development. Early assessment is important, especially in children.
At what age should my child first see an eye specialist?
From 2 years old. Children should undergo eye assessments if there are visual concerns, family history of eye conditions, or signs of abnormal visual development.
